Sunrise Couple's Session in Glamis Sand Dunes

This photoshoot at Glamis Sand Dunes was an absolute dream come true!

I kept seeing photos at this location and looking at it on Google Earth, and I just wanted to be there already. Since it is a pretty popular location, we planned it for it at sunrise and it was the best decision.

We drove for two and a half hours from San Diego to the beautiful Algodones Dunes that are part of the Sonoran Desert and loved how the colors of the sunrise changed throughout the session. Started with soft pastel colors and finished with bright and harsh light.

Yes, we ended up with sand everywhere and tired because hiking up on sand is not the easiest and as most of my couples say, a session with me is a bit of a work out. It was totally worth it though!

Sally wore this beautiful sparkly dress and Jon wore an off white suit and well, you can see how amazing they looked. SO PERFECT for this location.

A few things to consider if you’d like a session here:

1. Make sure you have enough time to drive there (and back if you have to be somewhere) because it takes two and a half hours from San Diego, and if you want some pretty light, you getter get planning.

2. Although this location can get very hot, our feet were freezing with the cold sand in the morning. Remember the desert can get very cold and windy.

3. We didn’t have much wind that day, but this location is famous for the gusting winds that come out of nowhere. I had goggles with me and some stuff to protect my camera from the sand just in case.

4. Bring something cozy to wear or to change into even if you don’t think you’ll need it. It’s one of those “better safe than sorry” moments. I never took my jacket off and Sally and Jon had warm stuff in their cars.

5. CHECK FOR PERMITS!! Especially now, some permits take a long time to be issued, so make sure you check this website that tells you everything you need to know when having a photoshoot here.

Get planning and go have a blast!
